Job Application Assistant Privacy Policy

Summary

Hired Hand doesn’t collect, transmit, or sell any of your data. Everything you enter — snippets, pipeline entries, and settings — stays on your device in Chrome’s local extension storage. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no servers involved.

What this extension does

Hired Hand is a Chrome extension that helps you fill out job application forms faster. It stores short text snippets (like your LinkedIn URL or email address) that you can copy to the clipboard with one click, and it tracks job applications you’re working through in a simple pipeline. Both features live entirely in Chrome’s side panel.

Data we store, and where

All data you create in Hired Hand — snippets, categories, pipeline applications, pipeline stage labels and order, your selected language, font size, and the timestamp of your last manual backup — is saved using Chrome’s chrome.storage.local API. This means:

• Your data is stored only on the device where you installed the extension.
• It is not synced to your Google account or any other device — Hired Hand deliberately uses local storage, not Chrome’s sync storage.
• It is never sent to us, to any server we operate, or to any third party. We don’t operate any backend for this extension at all.
• Uninstalling the extension removes this data along with it.

Backup and restore

The Options page lets you export your data to a JSON file and import it back later. This happens entirely on your device — the file is generated and read locally in your browser and is never uploaded anywhere by the extension. What you do with that file afterward (where you save it, whether you share it) is up to you.

Permissions this extension requests

• sidePanel — to show Hired Hand’s UI in Chrome’s side panel.
• storage — to save your snippets, pipeline, and settings locally, as described above.
• clipboardWrite — to copy a snippet’s value to your clipboard when you click it.
• contextMenus — to add the right-click “Save as snippet” and “Add to Pipeline” menu items.

Hired Hand does not request access to the content of the pages you visit, your browsing history, or your tabs.

What we don’t do

• No analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party scripts of any kind.
• No accounts, sign-up, or sign-in.
• No advertising, and no selling or sharing of data — because we don’t collect any.
• No AI processing of your data. Hired Hand is intentionally just a clipboard tool and a tracker, not an AI assistant.

External links

A few places in the extension link out to external sites you may choose to visit — for example, an optional “Donate” snippet that links to a Stripe-hosted payment page. These links only open if you click them, and any information you provide on those external sites is governed by that site’s own privacy policy, not this one.

Children’s privacy

Hired Hand is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age — see “What we don’t do” above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above. The page’s revision history is publicly visible in the source repository.
